I have been wanting to photograph a styled shoot inspired by the editorial Vogue look for quite some time. Wedding dresses are getting more and more beautiful and often when I arrive to a wedding, I’m blown away by the beauty in the details, color palettes and dress. In fact, I start with those details first thing when I arrive after saying hello to make sure they’re covered.

With this shoot, I wanted two distinctively different looks. The first has an all white palette inspired by Jackie O with the high waisted and lace dress. With the second look, it was much more stylishly “hot” and I shot it a little more “grungy” for that look. The long black gloves and gorgeous burgundy color palette were so fun and perhaps even more beautiful in person.

A session like this doesn’t happen without people saying “yes” when I ask for help. I love and appreciate all the participants more than they know.

Charlie, my model and almost wedding client, said yes to a quick message on FB. I was actually hired to photograph her wedding until she decided to elope in New York. As much as I wish I could’ve photographed her wedding, I totally get the elopement thing.:)

Cami, the SWEETEST dog on the planet, is owned by Fran who owns West End Grooming. A friend of mine uses West End for her dogs and she kept telling me about Cami and how amazing she is and she was so right. Everyone fell in love with her. The crazy thing is that she’s a rescue dog from Rockwall Animal Shelter. I think that makes me love her even more.

Denise with Clink Events said yes with a quick phone call. I’ve worked with Clink Events for years and they created the color palettes that went with each dress. Her designers, Katie and Jessica, created Pinterest inspiration boards and they were total eye candy and exactly what I needed.

Signature Bridal out in Bee Cave lent me the dresses. Lexi, with Signature Bridal, helped us narrow down our choices from a TON of gorgeous dresses. I honestly don’t know how a bride picks just one dress. I’ve had clients have a wedding dress for the ceremony and then change into a reception dress and now I get it. The first dress is by Jasmine Couture and the second dress is by Sottero & Midgley. GORGEOUS!

Stephanie with Bouquets of Austin has said yes so many times through the years for flowers and I always LOVE her work. One of the best in the business.

Ashley Bittles did Charlie’s hair and makeup and it was perfect for the look I wanted. Ashley does hair and makeup for my studio clients and I’m always blown away with her work.

Linda Holmbeck with Horizon Realty was the realtor that offered the house for the shoot that is currently for sale. I WISH I could afford it.

Jennifer and Tim caught a break in the weather last weekend and had a gorgeous Lakeway Resort wedding out on the balcony. It had been dark and overcast that morning and when they told me they were thinking about going outside, I smiled and thought, please let this happen. I’ve easily photographed 30 or more weddings out at Lakeway and it is the first time I’ve had the opportunity to shoot on the main balcony outside the ballroom. About an hour before the ceremony, the clouds broke and the sun came shining through. I was thrilled for Jennifer and Tim because they had put so much thought into all of the details that were important to them. I loved it all.

Julie with Lakeway Resort was her venue coordinator and I simply love her. She is one of the best in the business.
Stephanie with Bouquets of Austin was Jennifer’s florist and her work is breathtaking.

Jennifer and Tim, I wish you both the very best!!

I met Sara and Robert for a downtown Austin engagement session when the weather was raining and overcast one minute and then bright and sunny the next. Fortunately, the sky became blue and the sun came out just as we were starting our session.:)— I had photographed the wedding of one of Sara’s friends and I was thrilled when she picked me to photograph her wedding. We met on the day of the engagement and I immediately knew we were a great fit. Their relaxed style along with Sara’s GORGEOUS red coat made it so easy. I can’t wait for their wedding in April!

I have been debating for the last year or so about opening a portrait studio for indoor portraiture. I will always love outdoor light and great backgrounds but I’ve also wanted to play and see what comes out of a studio setting. For the most part, it’s an exercise to see what I can do with light and four walls. I want to learn something new with every session. This is my very first session and I learned a lot about how beautiful studio light can be for a bridal.

Two vendors that I LOVE and want to thank for making the pictures even better are

Ashley and Lexi from Signature Bridal Salon for the gorgeous dresses in Lakeway and

Stephanie with Bouquets of Austin for the hair wreath

AND a huge thank you to my beautiful niece, Kardi, for being a very patient model.
