I have been debating for the last year or so about opening a portrait studio for indoor portraiture. I will always love outdoor light and great backgrounds but I’ve also wanted to play and see what comes out of a studio setting. For the most part, it’s an exercise to see what I can do with light and four walls. I want to learn something new with every session. This is my very first session and I learned a lot about how beautiful studio light can be for a bridal.

Two vendors that I LOVE and want to thank for making the pictures even better are

Ashley and Lexi from Signature Bridal Salon for the gorgeous dresses in Lakeway and

Stephanie with Bouquets of Austin for the hair wreath

AND a huge thank you to my beautiful niece, Kardi, for being a very patient model.

Erin and Chris had a beautiful Camp Lucy Wedding this past weekend out in Dripping Springs. I LOVE this venue with all of the gorgeous views and places to photograph portraits. Erin had the arch professionally lit so we could do an outdoor night time portrait which was amazing against the sky out at Camp Lucy. — Erin and Chris had their ceremony in Ian’s chapel which is perfect for a more traditional ceremony. Erin’s dad was so adorable with how he tried to contain his emotion while walking his daughter down the aisle. It was also great to see Chris’s smile when he saw Erin for the first time looking stunning in her dress. — We had a great time photographing their portraits out in the gorgeous light just before sunset. It had drizzled all day out at Camp Lucy and then the sun came shining through the clouds which created light that I love. It doesn’t get any better than that.:)

Erin and Chris, I wish you both the very best!!

Vendors names are coming. Great pics don’t happen without them.:)

Katie and Graham had a fun church & Barton Creek reception this past weekend. Their church, St. John Neumann in Westlake, was the PERFECT church to have a rainy day wedding. The beautiful windows and gorgeous high ceiling center lets in lots of light plus it’s just so beautiful. — Graham is in the Navy and it was so cool to see all of his groomsmen and friends in their white uniforms. Katie was gorgeous and I think it may be the first wedding I’ve ever shot where both the bride and groom were wearing white.

After the wedding, in spite of rain, we went downtown to the state capitol to photograph a fun bridal party shot. I LOVED how easy going Katie was with the rain and we got some great photos during all of the portraits. Amazingly, Katie’s dress looked great for the reception and the uniforms stayed white.

The reception at Barton Creek looked absolutely magical. The cake was at the entrance and the blues and greens throughout the room were so beautiful. It was all tied together in the flowers and lighting. — The toasts and main dances were very touching and as a former journalist, I loved the emotion and sweetness from the couple’s family and friends. It was also crazy fun to photograph the Navy guys singing ‘You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling” to Katie during one of the band breaks. Best rendition ever. I loved it all!

Katie and Graham, I wish you both the very best!!

Courtney and Bradley had a gorgeous wedding at the Don Strange Ranch this past weekend that was crazy unique and fun. I LOVED Courtney’s dress and all of her personal touches. Bradley’s uniform made it so touching because it reminds me that you can’t take anything for granted. — The BARN. It’s the first time I’ve photographed a wedding in a barn and I think I’d like to shoot that more often. The light and ambiance made it sparkle and yet the simple ceremony in front of the fireplace was very homey and beautiful. — I have to give a special shout out to Clink for taking a ranch and turning it into the perfect wedding/reception venue. It was beautiful in every direction and they’re known for that in our industry. I loved it all!

Kaitlin and Ward had a romantic Driskill hotel wedding bathed in flowers and candles. Starting with Kaitlin’s dress, she looked like a combination princess/ballerina. Her flower girls wore ballerina dresses and it was fun to watch them twirl and play all night. — I photographed Kaitlin and Ward’s engagement and I LOVED them at hello because they’re so much fun. They played pretend boxers and alternated that with fun dips and sweet kisses. Their wedding was exactly the same. Ward twirled and dipped Kaitlin through the night and I had to post more than one picture of their dances. The Driskill ballroom was so romantic with all the candles and flowers on the mantle and it was literally breathtaking when you walked into the room. The Driskill can’t be beat for romance and celebration. I loved it all!

Kaitlin and Ward, I wish you both the very best!!

Barbara Hearne with Barbara’s Brides was her wedding planner
